Imagine taking a pair of scissors in your hand and cutting a tablet of paper. What happens? If you have enough strength to cut thru a tablet of paper, the pages are distorted. The actual amount of pressure at the tip of the scissors is going to be lower than the initial pressure applied. The actual pressure is 100% beginning the cut, 50% halfway thru and as low as 30% at the tip of the scissors.

A Uni-Hydro Plate Shear begins a cut at 100%, has a gain to 107% halfway thru and completes the cut at 115%. How is this possible?
